Cut the onions with large blocks. Melt inasaucepan 60 gofbutter and cook the onion initover alow heat for 15 min. While the onion isbeing cooked, cut the bread, heat the oven to175 0С and dry the pieces ofbread for 15 min.
Sprinkle the onion with flour and cook 5 more min., then pour inthe broth, bring tothe boil, add pepper and cook another 15 min. Put into heatproof bowls pieces ofdry bread, cover with onion soup, sprinkle with grated cheese Rosiiskyi Zveny Gora, put apiece ofbutter into each bowl and bake the soup under the grill inthe oven until its surface islight-brown.
Onion soup isserved hot just from under the grill. So, ifyou are not going toserve itfirst, you’dbetter not hurry toput itinto the oven.
